Rory’s Hair

Start to finish process

Reference drawn from this pink/ lilac flower I seen on a walk (with Meg) the other day. Specifically the white negative bands expanding to each edge, (like a star). This negative shape became the inspiration for the pattern, and Rory had bought me pink and purple dye, matches the flower. I’ve been on a really love thy neighbour speedrun recently and also hugely obsessed with the symbolism of stars. More on that later. Really focusing on the use of negative space

PROCESS

I really love every part of the process. From the bleaching to the outline etc. I love painting onto someone’s head colour gloop. But I thought even at this stage the lines and different colours of dye all mixing into the freshly bleached here was a joy for me to look at.

I put a toner on after. Neutralised everything and created a nice gradient with the pinks and purples. Keeping this in mind for next time I’m using pinks. Toner= could be the move. (It literally is the move) Although I have been known to advocate for a nice pale untoned yellow. Like some people with a lighter base get a really nice even lift and it’s a nice colour as is. I do think Rory is one of these people but the warmth of the pinks was too unbalanced with the white left untoned.

Initially I wanted to add a lime green accent but I got scared and I think I would’ve wanted a more balance between the white and pink if I wanted the lime to really pop- which is what I wanted. ! ******Anus Starfish Ombré Abstract Star******

This design definitely won’t last long- though Rory is a great client and always promises to wash his hair with cold water- pink in its lighter shades will wash out with 4 or 5 washes but this isn’t something that really bothers me, it mixes and fades into the blonde really well and something like this with a purple shampoo to upkeep the toner every 2-3 washes, depending on how often ur washing it, still looks sick, 1-2 months down the line, just not as it did originally.
